Mary White Newcomb was born and raised in Annapolis and recently returned to those roots after 20 years of adventuring in Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Northern California and Colorado. Mary started making jewelry when she was 8, after discovering a wonderful bead shop on Maryland Avenue, so she loves teaching both kids and adults. After many years of self-taught trial and error, she began taking classes at Maryland Institute College of Art's Meadow Mill facility, then moved to NYC to complete the studio program at the Fashion Institute of Technology. While completing this training she wove in personal explorations along the way, taking classes at the 92nd Street Y and Haystack Mountain School of Craft in Maine. Her favorite materials to work with include sterling, unique gemstones, shrinky-dinks and sparkly things she finds on her walks.
