As CFO of The Brick Companies (TBC) since 2003, Joan has been a vital member of the leadership team. The Brick Companies is recognized as a company committed to environmental and social responsibility, demonstrated by its “green building” philosophy and its support for charities and social causes through The TBC Foundation.

Prior to joining TBC Joan was a Certified Public Accountant with Beers & Cutler in Washington D.C. and then became Vice President of Finance for Development Resources, Inc., a company specializing in property management and development in Washington D.C.   Joan is a graduate of Mary Washington College, and received her MS from George Mason University.

Joan is Treasurer of the TBC Foundation and Scenic Rivers Land Trust.  Formerly serving on the Board of Directors for Commercial Real Estate for Women (CREW), Baltimore Chapter, as President and Treasurer, Joan is now the Chair of the CREW Baltimore Finance Committee.  She has served as President and Treasurer of the Crofton Elementary School PTA; Treasurer of the Crofton Elementary School; and Treasure of the Crofton Pack 731. 

Joan was recipient of the 2005 TWIN (Tribute to Women in Industry) award and in 2012 she and Lex Birney, TBC CEO, were recognized as one of the CEO & CFO Dream Teams by the Baltimore Business Journal.
